The Record Box

Here is the record box I've been bringing to the show for what, 12 years now. The original handle was the first thing to break. I've been adding reinforcements as needed, and the most recent improvement is the two on the back of the lid.

Who did this?

Each of us DJs have one of these bins in the back room. It's where we receive our mail from prisoners, or demo CDs from bluegrass bands. Or in this case, an old duck call. It's got a good layer of dust and probably needs a good cleaning and sterilization before I put my mouth near it. No idea who this came from, but I got some ideas. It was made by Thompson Wildlife Calls of Boise Idaho. Time to Google: "how to sanitize a duck call"

Spinnin' Shellac

Oh yeah, and while I'm throwing up photos, this happened last Radiothon. As a result of years of talk and one day of action, the DJ known as Eeeej became my first guest host to spin shellac during the popular Two Ducks radio broadcast.

Skins! A Bongo Party (1956)

Have they really?

A Few Nuggets

Here's some of the wreckage from last Fridays show.

Thursday, June 2, 2022

What's it been now, six years?

I should have known when I started this blog that I would barely have the motivation to do a radio show, much less add additional content here. Once in a while I remember this blog exists, and today is one of those days. I saw that a few nice people have commented since I looked last (years ago), so I guess someone is listening. Or was. Years ago.

So I'm going to try to use this space a bit more frequently. I know I've said things like that before, but I think I really mean it this time. It's not like I'm really that busy.

Wow, this thing still exists?

That was all I had to say, really.

What's up in the land of Ducks and Pollywogs?

Here's pretty much what has been going on with me, this old radio show and this station since my last post of over a year ago.

I started getting unwell, and was able to do my show less and less frequently. Eventually I was diagnosed with cancer, and spent a year kicking a tumor's ass. Luckily, as I was starting to get better, RadioBoise got the green light to begin broadcasting and I was able to get the show back together without much difficulty. I still have some trouble, but things have been getting more stable.

This blog was mostly playlists from shows. There were a whole lot of shows I never managed to post playlists for; the logs were written on paper, and I never seemed to have the time to type them up. Now we're using a service called Spinitron that handles (among other things) the logging of songs during the shows. Now it's a little pointless to even post the logs on here anymore, so I'll probably only do it once in a while. If you're here for a playlist that seems to be missing, check here.

The really exciting thing is that I'll have vastly more listeners, and much more reason to post supplemental information about the stuff I play. Feel free to use the comments if you have any questions about the music, or whatever else.
